Entertainment icon and multi-platinum artist Snoop Lion will release his highly-anticipated new album, REINCARNATED, on April 23, 2013. The forthcoming reggae and dancehall influenced album is executive produced by Diplo and the Major Lazer production team and will be released in conjunction with Berhane Sound System, Mad Decent, VICE Music, and RCA Records.

Snoop Lion recently premiered the new video and single for “Lighters Up” – a peace anthem both figuratively and literally, produced by Major Lazer and Dre Skull. On the track, Snoop uses the power of music to bring together Mavado and Popcaan, who come from different regions that have had a long-standing tension in Jamaica. The song’s inspiring lyrics are helping to spread the powerful message of unity and peace, which underscores the entire REINCARNATED project.  He also recently released the club-anthem “Here Comes The King” featuring Angela Hunte and produced by Diplo & Ariel Rechtshaid and co-produced by 6Blocc. Both tracks are available now digitally, and the REINCARNATED album will be available for pre-order on iTunes on April 2.

REINCARNATED, which features such artists as GRAMMY Award-winners Drake, Chris Brown and T.I., rapper Busta Rhymes, Akon, U.K. singing star Rita Ora, as well as dancehall stars Popcaan and Mavado and more.  The album includes tracks “La, La, La” “Ashtrays and Heartbreaks,” “Harder Times,” and the very personal, “No Guns Allowed,” which will serve as the next single off REINCARNATED. The song features his daughter, up-and-coming artist Cori B, and shares the message of hope and peace in light of recent events around the world.

“We were searching for true reggae music and the message of peace and hope it reflects,” says Snoop Lion of REINCARNATED. “It’s so much a part of who I am, and this record is all about paying homage and giving respect to those who created and love reggae music, and hopefully introducing it to a whole new audience. I feel truly honored to make this album and respect to all who blazed the path for me.”

Recently featured on the covers of Vice and The Hollywood Reporter, Snoop’s recording journey of the REINCARNATED album in Jamaica is documented in the film of the same name. An official selection of the critically acclaimed Toronto International Film Festival, the compelling VICE Films/Snoopadelic Films film chronicles the most controversial journey of a modern day icon in his spiritual awakening as Snoop Lion that grew from his recent trip to Jamaica – where the Jamaican people and culture positively affected him. The film will open in select cities on March 15, and will be at Hot Docs in Toronto.
