Like Pacific release new self-titled EP

January 20, 2015

In case you have been living under a rock, and that rock was blocking news in the form of sound waves from getting into your ears and permeating your brain, Toronto’s Like Pacific released their new self-titled EP today. The up-and-comers have issued a statement to the rest of the pop-punk genre with their new release: watch out. Like Pacific are young, driven and most importantly talented, making this band worthy of aural recognition and a spot on your playlist.

This is their first release since being signed to Canadian label New Damage Records as well as the worldwide Pure Noise Records. Drawing on the popular sounds of bands like Living With Lions and The Story So Far, Like Pacific describe themselves as, “five dudes with a common love for fast, hard-hitting and melodic music.”

The band released a music video for the EP’s single “Eviction” last week, displaying their high energy and musical complexity. The ear-pounding power chords are layered sweetly with subtle melodies, enhancing both the edginess and technicality of the guitars. Backed up by some of the tightest drumming pop-punk has to offer and fronted by the guttural yet melodic vocals of lead singer Jordan Black, Like Pacific leave it all on the stage with the new EP. The final song, “Suffering”, winds the album to a close with one last push. Like Pacific’s newest release breaks though the surface of the genre with a gasp of fresh air, not to be taken lightly in a musical climate so often crowded with unoriginality.

You can find the new EP on iTunes, or purchase a hard copy CD or 12” vinyl on Like Pacific’s online store.

Catch them on tour now.
