AMANDA DAY DOES THE BEST SHE CAN

Date Fail

AMANDA DAY doesn’t fuck around. On stage and in real life, she doesn’t suffer fools gladly. And she’s not big on pulling punches. Already an established comic on the Toronto scene, when she started delving into the murky, cum-stained annals and alleys of online dating – the Twitterverse was hooked. @cockdestroyer (her Tweetsmith name) mercilessly mocks, chides and savagely derides the creeps, pervs and prowlers who troll the underbelly of the e-dating world. Her posts, punchlines, written pieces (and now in podcast form!) commenting on the land of swipe are brutally funny. And in late 2014, she rolled tape. Joining our own TALKHOLE podcast network with a new show that plums the depths of online dating – “DATE FAIL” was born! (Click the pic above, listen and enjoy)

Her mission to make material of the all-out duds and dick pic senders of the social media meat market is attracting a fan following.

Amanda Day is a regular on stage at clubs and pubs and coffee shops across the city. Dives and sports bars, pot rooms and vape lounges. Every Thursday she can be found on stage at her cult classic Kensington show, “Stoned Up Comedy” at HOTBOX CAFE.

And on Saturday April 25 she’ll be rolling tape on her first ever live album, recorded at Toronto’s famous Comedy Bar. She’s one of those comics who, when you hear she’s finally doing an album you go, “Oh yeah – that makes sense actually. It’s about fucking time actually!”

Amanda Day is definitely due for her recorded album debut. In podcast form, “Date Fail” is flying high. On-stage, Day is a fucking dynamo. On camera she’s a crowd killer, including her own 2013 special on ichannel’s standup series “No Kidding” True to form, Amanda’s stacking the show with close friends in comedy on both ends. Featuring fellow ichannel alum NIGEL GRINSTEAD (Yuk Yuks, Cottage Country Comedy) and ROB MAILLOUX (Dark Comedy Festival, Drunkorexia) One’s an upcoming young crowd killer on the Canadian club circuit, the other is an international touring headliner and an indiependent festival producer/promoter. So, Day’s bringing the heavy artillary

On top of all that, it’s Amanda’s birthday show. So, bonus karma points for coming out to Comedy Bar and making a standup comic feel extra loved. And all warm and fuzzy. We all really want to be loved, its part of what we crave. Love and attention. And approval. And applause. Just come! And let it be a lesson to you, citizens of oneline dating – the next dic pick or screen vag you send to some unsuspecting Tinder match, they might just be standup comedian. In which case, Amanda’s taking that joke train all the way to iTunes city!
