Less Than Jake announce their across Canada tour !

Less Than Jake’s bass player Roger Lima says “America’s hat is a great place to eat some poutine” and with that sentence you know that LTJ is looking for a good time on the run of headline shows across Canada this October.

Less Than Jake return to the great white north for their first Canadian tour in 4 year in support of their latest release on Fat Wreck Chords See The Light .

While some other bands of a certain vintage are latching onto musical trends, you won’t find any dubstep beats or vocoder distortion on See The Light–a title that nods to the band’s history of marrying dark lyrical content (the tunnel) to bouncy musical arrangements (the light at the end). Less Than Jake aren’t turning away from their roots, and echoing Mark Twain, Fiorello points out that the rumors regarding their genre’s demise are greatly exaggerated: “Punk has been declared dead every year for 30+ years and it’s still going stronger than ever. People like to declare things dead just because it’s dead to them, but if bands are passionate about what they’re doing, they’ll attract fans who are passionate.”

Do The Math is the title track from See The Light and the a-side of a 7″that was released in June. The b-side is a previously unreleased original titled “Connect the Dots “from their See The Light recording sessions. Read what drummer Vinnie Fiorello had to say about this single below:

“The song is an important one to everyone in the band, it encapsulates being through ups and downs in life- not only remembering who was there for you but also who is still around. The notion that you have to carry this heavy weight around on your shoulders becomes null and void when you realize the people, places, and things that matter the most in your life.”

The new “Do The Math” video is as much fun as the band. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ntL2IYTiJgo

This tour begins hot off the heels after hitting a giant milestone for the band as this summer Less Than Jake celebrated their 365th Warped Tour date.

Eluveitie Announce North American Tour Dates

Eluveitie Tour Dates

Eluveitie Tour Dates

From Wikipedia:

Eluveitie (/É›lˈveɪti/ el-vay-ti)[6] is a Swiss folk metal band from Winterthur, Zurich founded by Chrigel Glanzmann. The band was formed in 2002 and their first EP, Vên was released in 2003. Vên was a studio project of Glanzmann’s but its success led to the recruitment of a full band. They describe themselves as “The new wave of folk metal”. The band then released a full-length album, Spirit in June 2006. In November 2007, Eluveitie was signed by Nuclear Blast[7] The first product of the collaboration, Slania, was released in February 2008. The album peaked at number 35 in the Swiss charts and number 72 in the German charts.[8][9]

Eluveitie use traditional instruments amidst guitars and harsh vocals. The lyrics are often in the now extinct languageGaulish. The name of the band comes from graffiti on a vessel from Mantua (ca. 300 BC).[10] The inscription in Etruscan letters reads eluveitie, which has been interpreted as the Etruscan form of the Celtic (h)elvetios (“the Helvetian”), presumably referring to a man of Helvetian descent living in Mantua.

Halifax POTW September 13th, 2013 – Miesha & The Spanks

Who: Miesha & The Spanks

When: Friday, September 13th @10pm

Where: Gus’ Pub & Grill, 2605 Agricola Street

Price: $6

Calgary garage-rock band Miesha & The Spanks is part of a frosh week shin-dig at Gus’s this week. Start your two days of freedom with this reverse White Stripes, and to be honest, this duo is super similar to the White Stripes, and there is nothing wrong with that, folks! Their recordings have a very live feel to em, instrumentally and vocally, which works to perfection with singer Miesha’s voice. You can’t cage a raging lion, after all.
