Who: The Indies
Where: Kool Haus
When: May 10th 2014

Sirius XM radio sponsored this year’s Indies Award show, and brought a variety of acts and awards to boot. All of the acts were truly memorable, some positively, some a little less. The better acts included: Mounties, an indie-rock band formed with Steve Bays from Hot Hot Heat, who stole the show being the best act of the night; Hollerado, a truly energetic band – winners of the Live Band of the Year, with great reason – who delivered a truly memorable performance; The Strumbellas, winners of the Folk group of the Year, who delivered a truly powerful performance.

The acts were great up until the last two bands, when the music started to fall a little flat. A very strange choice pre-closing act was The Hidden Cameras, who have known some controversy for their lyrics, but were ultimately a very monotone band, who’s dance song sounded like every other song they played; and Little Dragon, that was ultimately quite forgettable, which leads to a greatly disappointing closing act.

Many awards were given out, quite a few of them to City and Colour. We have the full list of all the winners and their respective presenters. The images of the shows can be found below
