Chastity – Peroxide – Single Review

Haunting is perhaps the best word that I can use to describe Chastity’s latest single “Peroxide”. Stunningly beautiful in its simplicity, “Peroxide” is guaranteed to elicit tears from any truly emotionally-in touch audience. The track mixes genres as Chastity, the latest project from Hometown Beatdown’s Brandon Williams, is blurring the lines of music to create songs that are raw and cathartic.

Whitby, Ontario’s Chastity has been garnering a lot of attention lately. Premiering a new track during Canadian Music Week earlier this month, Chastity hit the road last week for a spring tour of select cities in Canada and the US.

“Peroxide” is a simple tune featuring elegant piano chords and breathy emotional vocals. It is hard to not feel a sense of awe and emotional turmoil when the song builds on a soft crescendo and explodes at the chorus. Then the melody descends back to the soft trickle as before, and there is even a bit of playful tinkering on the keys, like a brief moment of happiness. This is where the song reaches its most beautiful and heartfelt moment. The emotion that pours from each note tugs at listeners heart, and as the song moves to the dramatic and powerful chorus, the effect of that moment is equally amplified. As the song moves to a close, the passionate feeling builds and builds until the very last note. And if listeners are curious to see how such intense emotions can translate into visuals, then I highly recommend checking out the riveting music video.
