Caveboy, the indie pop trio from Montreal were dressed in all black, but revealed colourful personalities and a vibrant sound.  They look like the cool kids from your old high school, and they act like your best friends on a cool summer night.

A few dozen people were scattered around the room, with beers in their hands and grins on their faces. Caveboy soon charmed the room and got everyone nodding to their catchy tunes. After playing a few of their original songs, they invited the audience to help with their tentative set list. The lead singer, Michelle Bensimon, gave the options of covering Selena Gomez or Justin Timberlake, to which the crowd almost unanimously decided Justin Timberlake. They belted out a synth-pop version of the 2006 pop hit “What Goes Around… Comes Around” and added a fun rock outro that had everyone dancing.  By this point, there was no doubt that the entire audience was having fun, old fans and new fans alike. They ended their set with an old favourite, “Something Like Summer,” a very fitting name for a high energy performance.

Caveboy is certainly a band that knows how to have fun and ensures that the crowd does as well. With a short set just over thirty minutes long, they left the audience craving more. The combination of Caveboy’s fun personalities and indie dream-pop sound really does sound something like summer.
