STYLE: Classic Rock

CROWD: By the time Foreigner began, the former battlefield was packed solid with eager music aficionados, hungry for rock. As the sun began to set over the beautiful settings, the sparkling red sea of flashing festival badges from the hills in the distance were evidence of just how far back the crowd stretched.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: During “Cold As Ice”, singer Kelly Hansen came down from the monolith of a stage to dive into the crowd and surf for a few minutes. This sparked the audience into a frenzy and stirred up the photo pit, too, as everybody clamoured to snap a shot.

MEMORABLE SONG: With so many great, classic songs to their name, it becomes rather difficult to select just one. So, I’ll go with the first track to really get my feet moving; “Cold As Ice”. One of those songs that everybody knows without necessarily being a fan of the genre or the band — and that is a true testament to the song writing prowess of the group. Then again, the same could be said for “Juke Box Hero”, and that particular track really had the audience going.

COMMENTS: Foreigner are one of the best selling bands the planet has ever known, with sales in excess of eighty million albums sold. Throughout their set, I found myself appreciating them more than I ever had before. Probably thanks to the impressive onslaught from one hit to another, in an ever flowing stream of classic tracks. From the aforementioned “Cold As Ice” and “Juke Box Hero”, to hits like “Hot Blooded” and “I Want To Know (What Love Is)”

*Editors note: When Kelly Hansen dove into the crowd during “Cold As Ice” it felt like an encore!   Only three songs into the set, Foreigner rose the crowd reaction to a 10 and kept the energy level high until the end.  The crowd forced them to play a two song encore (I Want To Know What Love Is and Hot Blooded), stealing the show.
