Montreal Psychobilly Band The Brains Announce New Record and Canadian Tour!

thebrainsStomp Records Recording Artists :The Brains

Canada’s most insanest, undeadest and bestest psychobilly horror-punks are back with with their latest, greatest album to date. The Monster Within will be unleashed on Stomp Records April 16, 2013.

The Brains has never been a band to follow the rules…in fact they’ve made it a point to utterly and completely destroy every single one of them with each album they release and every show they play. These hardworking road-warriors have brought their eye-popping live show to the four corners of the world; playing packed houses throughout Europe, Canada and the US alongside acts like Mad Sin, The Offspring, The Reverend Horton Heat, The Real McKenzies, The Creepshow and many more. A relentless tour schedule is in the works for 2013 that includes stops at CMW, PouzzaFest and Rebellion Festival in Blackpool, UK.

The Monster Within is an unholy collection of 14 mind-bendingly brain-melting tracks that will explode in your earholes like a hell-born volcano. The impossibly fast and unbelievably tight rhythm section of Pat Kadaver (skins) and Colin The Dead (stand up bass) threaten to push the limits of sanity and safety to the very edge… Rene D La Muerte’s (vox/gretsch) haunting croon sends shivers up the spines of even the most jaded listener while his signature guitar stylings fuse the rockabilly sounds of the 50’s with the intensity of an industrial chainsaw. The Brains continue to blur the lines between rockabilly, psycho, surf, punk and rock n’ roll; kicking down genre barriers and demanding undying loyalty at every show they play. Incorporating elements from whatever the hell they feel like, The Brains concoct an irresistable brew of Motorhead-esque ferocity and sexed up latin swagger while adding a pinch of rockabilly revival and a whole lot of booze-fueled punk rock mayhem.

Catch them live and prepare for a night on the dance floor !

The Sheepdogs “Way It Is”

One of the biggest groundswell stories in Canadian music continues with the announcement that self-titled LP The Sheepdogs, has debuted at #1 on the Top 200 SoundScan Chart. They are the 2nd Canadian band to debut at #1 in 2012 alongside RUSH, and only one of six Canadian artists to hit #1 this year.

“Feels so great to know so many good people are listening,” says lead vocalist and songwriter Ewan Currie. “I have my index finger raised like Larry Bird after he won the 3 point competition.”

Produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Austin Scaggs, The Sheepdogs, marks the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan based band embracing a vast span of influences to create a distinctive collection of brilliantly unabashed rock ‘n’ roll. The thumping first single from the album, titled “The Way It Is ” remains #2 at Alternative, All Rock (#1 audience) and Mainstream Rock. It remains Top 5 at Active Rock, Modern Rock and on the Emerging Artists chart. The video for the guitar driven, blues-tinged track — directed by comedy writers/directors/actors The Sklar Brothers, and featuring comedian Jonathan Dore — was added at MuchMusic and MusiquePlus and can be viewed here:

Since coming together in 2006, The Sheepdogs have received widespread acclaim for their bold and beautiful take on classic guitar rock, evinced on three self-funded, independently released albums. The band’s hard work, determination and unprecedented skill have earned them a fervent fan following, leading to the accumulation of various achievements and awards. Their 2010 release, Learn & Burn, attained GOLD record certification in Canada and was ultimately honoured with a trio of JUNO awards which included, “New Group of the Year,” “Single of the Year,” and “Rock Album of the Year.” The album also saw tremendous radio success with two top 5 hits for the tracks “I Don’t Know” and “Who?” Further, at the recent MuchMusic Video Awards, the video for the single “I Don’t Know” won the award for “Best Rock Video”.

Details for the band’s cross-Canadian tour will be announced next week. For more news and information, please visit www.thesheepdogs.com and http://www.warnermusic.ca/.

THE SHEEPDOGS READY WITH SELF-TITLED ATLANTIC RECORDS/WARNER MUSIC CANADA DEBUT ALBUM

FIRST SINGLE, “THE WAY IT IS,” PREMIERING NOW EXCLUSIVELY VIA ROLLINGSTONE.COM

EAGERLY AWAITED RELEASE SEES THE BLACK KEYS’ PATRICK CARNEY AMONG PRODUCERS

“THE SHEEPDOGS” ARRIVES EVERYWHERE ON SEPTEMBER 4TH

(Toronto, ON – July 12, 2012) Atlantic Records/Warner Music Canada recording group The Sheepdogs have announced the release of their hugely anticipated label debut album. THE SHEEPDOGS arrives everywhere on September 4th. The album is available now for digital pre-order, with physical pre-orders beginning July 17th at thesheepdogs.com.

Produced by The Black Keys’ Patrick Carney and Austin Scaggs, THE SHEEPDOGS marks the Saskatoon, Saskatchewan based band embracing a vast span of influences to create a distinctive collection of brilliantly unabashed rock ‘n’ roll.

“I think different albums have processes and this was a different experience for us, but that’s part of what makes it interesting,” comments lead vocalist Ewan Currie. “We wanted to just go with the flow and make the album that represented where we are now.”

After the band was introduced to Carney at Petty Fest in New York last year, he immediately began offering ideas for The Sheepdogs’ next album. In January, Carney invited the band to the studio, where they culled together old material and quickly began laying down new ideas.

“I think Patrick has a good sense of no bullshit,” Currie says. “A lot of making rock and roll is about cutting the fat and being a good filter. In the studio, he helped us refine the songs and found the best representation of each one possible. Plus, we wanted to be able to incorporate all different styles and I think our album runs the gamut.”

THE SHEEPDOGS is heralded by the thumping first single, “The Way It Is,” which just premiered exclusively on RollingStone.com (direct link: http://tinyurl.com/d6ndzm2). A companion video for the blues-tinged track will be released in the upcoming weeks, directed by comedy writers/directors/actors The Sklar Brothers, and featuring up-and-coming comedians Jonathan Dore, Dan Van Kirk and Rory Scovel.

As impassioned on stage as they are on record, The Sheepdogs have spent much of their musical lifetime on the road.  In addition to innumerable headline shows and festival appearances, the band has shared stages with such like-minded acts as Kings of Leon, John Fogerty, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears.

Launched in February 2011, the “Do You Wanna Be A Rock & Roll Star?” competition began with 16 acts selected by Rolling Stone, AOL Music editors, and Atlantic A&R executives.  Over the course of the contest, finalists were brought to New York City to record and perform three songs for Rolling Stone editors, Atlantic A&R executives and other industry professionals.  In June, The Sheepdogs were named as one of the competition’s two finalists, resulting in a performance face-off before tens of thousands of fans at the annual Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival in Manchester, Tennessee.

The Sheepdogs emerged victorious as the contest’s winners following an August performance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  In addition to the prestigious Rolling Stone cover, the band also received a recording deal with Atlantic Records/Warner Music Canada, which immediately released their FIVE EASY PIECES EP.
