Greening’s Restaurant, located on the scenic Cabot Highway in Lethbridge en route to Bonavista, is a roadside diner well worth the road trip. An institution in the area for many years,Greening’s specializes in homestyle comfort food. It has a cozy old fashioned diner feel to it, with its red vinyl upholstered booths and checkerboard pattern floors. Staff are warm and friendly, offering quick service to regulars and newcomers alike. It’s the kind of diner you wish you had in your hometown, full of good food and conversation.

The menu at Greening’s Restaurant is a combination of classic diner fare and Newfoundland favorites. They offer a full traditional breakfast,a variety of sandwiches, soups, fish and chips, burgers, and more traditional dinners like roast ham, turkey, or beef with vegetables. Greening’s also offer dessert options like pies plus they have dairy bar options like sundaes, banana splits, and milkshakes as well as ice cream by the scoop. These are perfect options to round out your meal or a great treat on a hot day, which they see plenty of in the Lethbridge area.

The best known and loved item on the menu at Greening’s Restaurant is their southern fried chicken, which myself and my dining companion both partook of on our visit. Breaded fresh from their own special recipe and fried to crispy juicy perfection, the chicken is the best I’ve ever had.  A fried chicken meal at Greening’s comes with a side of fresh cut homestyle fries and gravy if you so desire. The fries are equally excellent, either on their own or with their rich mellow gravy. Another favorite of mine is Greening’s club sandwich. It comes loaded with fresh roasted turkey, ham and bacon in addition to the lettuce and tomato. It’s a winning combination that is substantial on its own and honestly built for two if you have fries with it.

Greening’s Restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner year round. Pay them a visit if you’re in the area or passing through on a road trip. You’ll feel right at home.
