The Crowd: It wasn’t packed, no more than thirty people in front of the stage, but they got a good reaction.

Style: Soul, Rhythm and Blues

Technicalities: Good mix, zero problems from a sound perspective.

Memorable Song/Moment:  The most memorable part of the show was the musicianship. The bassist put on a hell of a show and was definitely the most entertaining to watch. The drummer also deserves an honorable mention. According to the bands Facebook page he is also Usher’s drummer, which explains how he could hit all those high notes without missing a beat. Levi Stephens’ guitar occasionally got drowned out but by the rhythm section but when you could hear him his classic vocal and guitar styles were easy on the ears.

Image: Each band member was dressed like your middle school’s cool music teacher, not exactly teen heart throbs but I doubt image is all that important to them.

Comments: The crowd was mostly artists and industry. The small turnout could be credited to the fact that Levi Stephens are from out of town and not well known, but they were playing for a smaller crowd than they deserved. Despite this they played a good show. Their melodic, rhythm driven jams deserved a place later on the bill, it would have been interesting to see what they could have done with a full set. The fifteen minutes they were given, limited them to three songs. Each song sounded like a cover of a classic Rhythm and Blues song you’ve heard before. This hardly matters considering how well the songs were played with notable mention going to the tight vocals and vocal harmonies.  I won’t pretend to be well versed on this style of music but Levi Stephens is a great introduction to this genre.
