The 37th Annual Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival which will take place August 9-11, 2013 at Bowring Park in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The NL Folk Festival is one of the largest events in the province and second oldest Folk Festival in Canada.

Hosted by the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Society this festival is spread out over three exciting day, filled with music, stories, dance and everything in between! It is a summertime memory that has been shared by thousands of people for 37 years. The 2013 Festival will showcase a variety of acts and amazing homegrown talent as we celebrate 37 years at the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival.

The Folk Festival is promising to be a great weekend, with Friday night headliner, Joel Plaskett and special guest, Bill Plaskett; as well as Tim Baker, of the internationally renowned Newfoundland rock band Hey Rosetta!, joining the Main Stage for one of the festival’s Songwriters Circles. New country-blues band The Low Yo Stuff, a tremendously talented super group made up of some of St. John’s hottest musicians will also take the stage.

For Saturday’s show, The Good Lovelies and winner of the CBC Searchlight competition, Sherman Downey and The Ambiguous Case will headline.

Sunday’s show will go out with a bang - Spirit of the West  and the Irish Descendants playing Sunday evening.

Other acts include Albedo, John Doyle and Nuala Kennedy, A Crowd of Bold Shareman, The Secrets and many more.

Sessions in the Francophone tent, cultural diversity tent, traditions tent, instrumental tent, homemade jam tent, will be held throughout the weekend along with dance workshops.

The first show begins at 6:00 on Friday, August 9th (gates open at 5:45) and we wrap up at 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 11th. See you there!
