Ottawa indie folk fans rejoice! Northcote and Dave Hause are on the road together again and will be playing at Mavericks this Sunday.
Northcote is the pseudonym used by Canadian singer/songwriter Matthew Goud to release his powerful and organic folk tunes. From his bio:
“On NORTHCOTE, Goud further strengthens his voice as an emerging Canadian artist. Confident, full chords replace contemplative ballads, and the influence of his eclectic background of punk, soul and blues create a unique sound.”
Longtime friends on tour, Dave Hause is Goud’s American counterpart. Growing up world’s apart (Saskatchewan all the way to Philedelphia) both musicians share similar roots of Sunday School and teenage punk bands. From his bio:
“The rock songs, tinged with folk and punk tones, are firmly rooted in Hause’s own upbringing and the sensibility that comes from growing up in a blue collar neighborhood driven by the lingering anticipation of upward mobility.”
The musicians have toured around the world together and Hause has gained quite the following for his solo music, he released his second full length in 2013 on Rise Records. However, as soon as he comes across the border he switches roles with Northcote from headliner to support.
Local Ottawa musician Jonathan Becker will be opening the show with some of his own solo acoustic music. Becker recently released a new EP with his band Jonathan Becker & The North Fields. Do not miss out on another fantastic show presented by Spectrasonic.
