The Novaks Rock The Rockhouse September 23, 2011 by Lola Sutton

The Novaks Rock St.John'sThe show opened with new comers Rocket Rocketship taking the stage. It’s evident that this young local band is going places. They revved up the crowed with their rock and roll mix of original and cover tunes; I was blown away by the high caliber of their playing.

As the openers played their last song the people flocked in and the club filled up to the brim. Everyone was pumped for the main act. The Novaks took to the stage under the cover of darkness while a projection screen played a scene from West Side Story.

As soon as they played their first song on the electric guitars and drums, the crowd went wild! The band played newer hits and a number of older favorites. The Novaks sure put on one hell of a show, catering to the whole crowd of young and old alike.

One watcher was even dressed like the lead singer of the band Mick Davis. This guy had on a black leather jacket with the collar turned up, blue jeans, black dress shoes, and a white collared shirt. The kid looked like he stepped out of the bands music video for Goodbye Rock and Roll Band.

“I love these guys” he commented to me as he sang along to the tunes and was pretty excited to be at the concert.

These guys even did a little jig, mixing tradition with their own rock and roll edge to their new original song Its just a Dream.

It was evident as the night drew to a close that I was instantly hooked.

Keep on Rockin Novaks; I anxiously await the release of your new Cd “Big World”.
