Pilaros Taste of the Danforth Festival Reaches 20th Anniversary

Don’t forget to check out the Pilaros Taste of the Danforth festival this weekend, which has reached its 20th anniversary milestone.

Initially modelled on the hugely successful ‘Taste of Chicago’, Taste of the Danforth began as a celebration of Hellenic cuisine and culture. It has since grown into a celebration of both Greek heritage and multiculturalism in the City of Toronto, with over 1.3 million visitors anticipated over the weekend.

Food, food and more food is on the agenda, so expect an array of gyros, filled pitas and souvlaki skewers for sampling, along with a host of cuisine from other nationalities.

And if witnessing new Guiness World Records is your thing, turn up at the corner of Pape and Danforth at 12pm on August 11th to watch a new record for the Largest Greek Yogourt Bowl being set.

The festival, in conjunction with Parmalat Astro Yogourt, will be building a yogourt container over five feet tall and holding over 1,300 pounds of yogourt, which will hopefully beat the previous record set in 2010 in South Africa, at 4.53 feet tall and 1,133 pounds.

Pilaros Taste of the Danforth runs from 6pm-12am Friday and 12pm-12am Saturday and Sunday.
