T. Williams tore up Wrongbar on Saturday night here in Toronto, only confirming his status as one of the music industry’s rising stars.

Hailing from London, England, Williams’ music is something unique, fun, and funky. He emerged onto the house scene in 2010 and immediately made an impression. However, don’t be fooled by his recent success. Williams has over a decade of experience in the industry, and was signed at the age of 17 to Jon E Cash’s Black Op’s with “Invasion.” He reached levels of impressive popularity and success in the grime and bass world with his singles selling by the thousands. It’s only been in recent years that Williams made the transition into house music, but his approach to the genre is completely different and all his own.

T WilliamsHis set at Wrongbar was in a word, sublime. Williams is definitely one DJ/producer you’d want to see perform live.  His mixing and transitions flowed perfectly, and the beat was something you innately bounced to. The tracks he played that featured vocals were enamouring and ethereal -  and I’m still finding myself humming some of the melodies.  His set most definitely had a groove element, and incorporated that ever-so popular nu-disco sound, however, the bass was kept pretty deep, and it created the perfect rumble in the room.  Overall, Williams’ music formed the ideal low-key environment for everyone to jam to as they sipped their PBR’s and vodka soda’s.

Opening for Williams was Toronto-based DJ duo, HolloH. Even though the bar was still filling up as they played their set, HolloH set the perfect tone for the evening. The night also featured Mosca, an underground house and techno DJ. Mosca created a high energy feeling in the bar, playing beats that were dark, but featured a rolling groove element.

The entire night was sexy, memorable, and exciting. It was also a reminder of why Embrace is one of the leading promotional companies in North America as they have repeatedly booked incredible DJ’s every week, bringing people out to various venues in Toronto, and all for the sheer love of music.
