Style: Black Metal

Crowd: There was a decent-sized crowd for a black metal show, although a bunch of people stayed away from the stage. The three rows of people who were near the stage were enjoying the fuck out of the set, head-banging, throwing their horns up and finally breaking into a mosh-pit for the last song. Warning: don’t wear heels and glasses to a black metal show, even if you’re not planning on being in the mosh-pit. You never know what will happen.

Sex Appeal/Image: What is appealing about Woe’s image is that there are no over-the-top theatrics involved. No make-up, no robes or 10-inch long spikes. Nothing was taking away from the music and the pure enigmatic energy floating around the venue. Plus, who needs the theatrics with all the head-banging happening?

Technicalities: Woe started out a little shaky on guitars, but quickly picked it up and the rest of the set went smoothly.

Memorable song/moment: The whole set felt very powerful and enigmatic, but then again I’m a sucker for atmospheric stuff. Mosh-pits are always fun, too!

Honestly, I would recommend checking Woe out to anyone interested in solid new(er) metal bands.
